NSW TrainLink is an Australian brand for the medium and long distance passenger rail and coach services of Transport for New South Wales. NSW TrainLink services operate throughout New South Wales and extend into the neighbouring states and territories of Victoria, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. Train services are operated by NSW Trains and owned by the Government of New South Wales.
The XPT power car features a Paxman VP185 12-cylinder, turbo-charged diesel electric engine boasting 1492 kW or 2000 horsepower. There's a power car at each end of the train, one pulling and the other pushing.
The XPLORER engines
are KTA-19-R 375 kW, 19 litre turbo-charged made by Cummins. Each XPLORER carriage can carry 1600 litres of fuel, enough for a 1600km trip.
